The Racing Rules and their Tactical Applications

In this presentation, Dave goes through the 2017-2020 racing rules, ensuring that sailors and officials understand the rules and how to apply them to situations from common to complex, with a look to how to maximize winning tactics, eliminate procedural errors on the race course, and make the best decisions possible in a hearing, with an increased rules knowledge.  The afternoon session will focus on winning tactics in the context of larger Championship events.

  • Event will be held at Tabor Academy's Lyndon South Auditorium (242 Front Street, Marion, MA 02738).
  • Registration fee is $80; This includes coffee at check-in and lunch.

US Sailing One Day Race Managment Seminar

This seminar will take place at Lyndon North auditorium, which is located in the Stroud Academic Center at Tabor Academy (the GPS address is 242 Front Street, Marion MA). There is ample parking in the area. Please note that lunch and coffee are included in the price of this seminar, which is a collaborative effort on the part of SMSA, Beverly Yacht Club, and Tabor Academy. Seminar will run from 0830-1700. Participants from SMSA Sailing Clubs will be reimbursed the cost of this seminar ($30) if they take the on-line test at the conclusion of the course.
   
Race Officials represent US Sailing on and off the race course. Their mission is to ensure quality, integrity and consistency for all participants in the sport of sailboat racing, from casual weeknight club racing to world championships. They are trained, certified and supported by US Sailing, and they have the resources of the organization at their disposal Race Officials are sailors like you who volunteer their time because they enjoy the work and because they believe in the importance of giving back to the sport.

Club Judge Certification is for those individuals who seek to judge primarily at their own club and would like to have a stronger and more consistent rules knowledge.
