This course is designed for adults with little to no prior sailing experience who want to gain a basic understanding of sailing such that they are able to sail safely and competently without an instructor on board. You will become familiar with the parts of a boat, learn about boating safety, wind awareness, how to rig and de-rig a boat and how to safely and competently maneuver a boat in light to moderate air.

The course will meet once a week for 5 weeks. Each 3-hour class will have a brief onshore (theory) session before heading out onto the water where the majority of the time will be spent learning and practicing the basic skills of sailing.
